Shigeki Yonemura (米村 茂樹, Yonemura Shigeki) is a student of 9th Grade Class 3 in 1998, in Yomiyama North Middle School.

Appearance

Shigeki was a slightly pale boy of slightly below average height. He has light brown hair, which he styles similarly to Ikuo Takabayashi. He is only seen wearing the standard male uniform.

When he is only mentioned in the manga and the novel, the anime is the only version that shows his physical appearance.

Personality

Shigeki was shown as a sociable, friendly, and calm young man, who was seen in the company of Takeru Mizuno, and his friends Manabu Maejima and Kenzō Kawahori. However, after the events that occurred due to the calamity, there were reasons enough for him to gradually become aware of the situation in which he was, and that is why he did not participate in the school trip.

Plot

Shigeki made his debut in "Rough Sketch" as one of the students socializing during break on Kōichi's first day of school. He was in class when Kubodera killed himself and was one of the students who fled the room.

Along with Haruka Etou, Kazue SatouMegumi Tatara, Sachiko Nakajima, Naomi Fujimaki, and Takeru Mizuno, Shigeki didn't attend the class trip in "Glass Eye", which most likely allowed him to survive the calamity.

Trivia

  • Shigeki is ranked A in Another characters ranking.
  • His home address is 5-22 Asamida, Yomiyama City.
  • Shigeki is one of the few characters whose status in the anime changed positively, as he survives the events of the class trip, and therefore, the curse itself. In the novel, he is murdered by Keiko Numata, and in the manga, he dies in a fire, both at the inn. This is probably because, in the anime, he simply didn't go on the class trip. He also has the distinction of being the only victim of the Calamity in the manga who is never actually shown.
  • His first name, Shigeki, means "luxuriant tree."
  • He only has dialogue in the novel during one of the Interludes.
